Early Prelims

Renato Moicano defeats Jalin Turner by TKO at 4.11mins in Rd2

Moicano was able to land an early takedown in the opening round and secure a lengthy spell of control, though without much in the way of offense. Turner eventually battled back to his feet and stayed patient, then floored Moicano with a straight left, but his belief he had delivered a walk-off KO proved not to be the case as Miocano got back up and made it to the end of the round. Turner didn’t press the action in the second round, enabling Moicano to get another takedown and keep him there. Moicano then turned up the heat late in the round with a sustained ground-and pound assault that led to a TKO finish.

Jessica Andrade defeats Marina Rodriguez by split-decision (29-28 x2, 28-29)

The first half of the opening round saw Rodriguez getting the better of the striking from range, but Andrade was then able to secure a takedown and control the action while landing some solid ground-and-pound. In the second they stayed upright and for much of it Rodriguez was in the driver’s seat with her straight punches from the outside, but in the final minute Andrade’s forward pressure paid off with hard punches that had troubled Rodriguez. Rodriguez was back to out-striking Andrade for much of the final round, but Andrade did manage to land a brief takedown and also put her down for a split-second with a leg kick. It’s a close call on the scorecards and it’s Andrade who emerges victorious via split-decision.

Bobby Green defeats Jim Miller by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-25, 29-26)

The first round here was fairly competitive, with Green having the higher work rate and faster hands, but Miller also landing a few solid punches and kicks along the way. However, in the second round the momentum clearly started to shift firmly in Green’s favor as his speed and accurate boxing combo’s took their toll, leaving Miller cut above and below his right eye. Miller took further punishment in the final round and was rocked late on, but survived to hear the final bell.

Deiveson Figueiredo defeats Cody Garbrandt by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4.02mins of Rd2

After a cautious first round Figueiredo was able to get Garbrandt to the mat early in the second. Garbrandt did well to survives an arm-triangle choke attempt, but soon after a scramble enabled Figueiredo to sink in a fight-ending rear-naked choke.
