UFC Fight Night 119 Post-Fight Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 119 event in Brazil the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a ferocious scrap between Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Max Griffin on the preliminary card.

Both fighters hit the floor in the first round due to strikes, though it was Zaleski who had the upper-hand overall and had Griffin in danger of being stopped before the bell.  Despite that, Griffin came back strongly in the second round,  but couldn’t maintain that in the third as Zaleski turned up the heat again to earn a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x2, 29-27).

Main event winner Derek Brunson scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he made short work of Lyoto Machida, rocking him with a huge left hook in the opening round and then another that floored him, before sealing a KO victory with a barrage of blows on the mat.

Pedro Munhoz also claimed a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after he hurt Rob Font with a punch in the first round, forcing his opponent to dive desparately on a takedown attempt, which he was easily able to stuff and then immediately roll on top with a guillotine choke that produced a rapid tapout.
