UFC Fight Night 126 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 126 event in Texas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a fight between Brandon Davis and Steven Peterson which had been promoted to the main card from the UFC Fight Pass prelims after another bout was called off on short notice.

The two fighters made the most of their time in the spotlight by putting on an all-action slugfest over the course of three rounds, with Davis getting the better of the first 10 minutes as he used straight punches to repeatedly counter his opponent’s forward pressure.

Peterson showed his toughness to keep marching forward though and in the third round he started to find more success with his own striking and had the crowd roaring in appreciation when he somehow turned up the heat even more after being rocked by a knee to the face.

Peterson made it a fun fight to watch, but there was no doubting it was Davis who deserved the unanimous decision victory.

Derrick Lewis got back to winning ways and earned himself a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus along the way courtesy of his latest hard-hitting TKO finish against Marcin Tybura.

Lewis often found himself getting outgrappled during the fight, but he turned things around midway through the third round when he suddenly unleashed a barrage of blows from close range that floored Tybura and led to the technical knockout stoppage.

Also earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was the debuting Curtis Millender, whose height and reach proved a difficult puzzle for Thiago Alves to solve.

Millender first had Alves rocked in the second round, but the veteran tried his best to battle his way back into the contest, only to be dropped hard by a big knee to the face that would finish the fight by way of knockout.
