Following UFC Fight Night 139 last night the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was Yair Rodriguez and ‘The Korean Zombie’s’ bloody main event battle that provided a perfect finale to the UFC’s 25th Anniversary event.
Both men gave their all from start to finish and ate some big shots in the process, but it wasn’t until the very last second of the very last round that the Zombie came forward looking for one last flurry, only for Rodriguez to duck down and then launch an audacious upward elbow that connected with his chin and knocked him old cold.
Unsurprisingly, Rodriguez also pocketed a further $50,000 for having one of the ‘Performance Of The Night’ thanks to that KO stoppage – which will instantly go down as one of the most jaw-dropping finishes in UFC history.
Meanwhile co-main event star Donald Cerrone also claimed a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus thanks to his first round finish against his rival Mike Perry, landing a slick reversal to get on top and then going through a chain of submission before finally settling on a belly-down armbar to force his opponent to tap out.
