UFC Fight Night 140 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 140 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a prelim card fight between Laureano Staropoli and Hector Aldana, a hard-hitting three round war in which the newcomer Staropoli would eventually emerge with a unanimous decision victory.

Main event winner Santiago Ponzinibbio received a well-earned ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he completely dominated Neil Magny in the main event of the evening, taking him off his feet multiple times with chopping low leg kicks that eventually had his opponent struggling just to put weight on that foot.

While that looked like being his most likely route to a finish as the fight moved into the fourth round, the end came when Ponzonibbio suddenly connected with a single punch that sent Magny falling face first to the canvas for a knockout victory.

The evening’s other ‘Performance Of The Night’ went to promotional newcomer Johnny Walker who used his height and reach well against Khalil Rountree and eventually stopped him in devastating fashion after getting into the thai clinch and landing a powerful elbow that knocked him down, with punches following up to complete the knockout.
