Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 150 event in Florida the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus award were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a fight many had tipped pre-fight to win the award – the main card scrap between Mike Perry and Alex Oliveira.
‘Cowboy’ Oliveira started the fight strongly and threw everything but the kitchen sink at Perry, who showed his durability to hang on in there and then gradually start to turn the screw in the remaining ten minutes of a hard fought battle to emerge with a unanimous decision victory.
Glover Teixeira earned one of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards after his hard-hitting war with Ion Cutelaba, who tagged him with some heavy punches in the opening round.
Teixeira was hurt, but the veteran wasn’t going to be put away so easily and in the second round as Cutelaba slowed down he piled on the pressure and eventually emerged with a rear-naked choke submission victory.
Also earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was veteran fighter Jim Miller, who Was able to get Jason Gonzalez down early in the fight and apply a rear-naked choke to end the contest with just over 2 minutes on the clock.
