Following yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 157 event in China the recipients of the $50,000 bonus awards were anounced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a preliminary card scrap between Alateng Heili and Danaa Batgerel.
Heili actually had a point abruptly deducted during the fight for strikes that were deemed to be illegal, yet he still managed to battle his way to a unanimous decision victory on the scorecards.
Weili Zhang’s strawweight title winning TKO victory over Jessica Andrade provided her with a well earned ‘Performance Of The Night’ award.
Few could have predicted the outcome here, with the tough-as-nails Andrade surviving only 42 seconds as Zhang met fire with fire in an early exchange of punches, rocking the champion, who drove straight into the clinch to recover, only to then be met with a barrage of elbows, knees and punches that would send her reeling back across the Octagon until she slumped to the canvas.
Another Chinese star Li Jingliang also deservedly secured a performance bonus for his excellent TKO victory over Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in the co-main event.
Li had been getting the better of his opponent for much of the fight, but he put the icing on the cake late in the fight as he dropped EZS twice with punches to earn a TKO stoppage with 9 seconds left on the clock.
