Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 167 event in New Mexico the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a preliminary card bout between Scott Holtzman and Jim Miller, which proved to be a competitive striking battle in which each man ate big shots, but it was Holtzman who was landing more frequently and that only increased as the fight went on and would lead to him winning by unanimous decision.
Jan Blachowicz was an easy choice for a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after his first round highlight-reel knockout victory against Corey Anderson that now puts him as close as he’s ever been to a light-heavyweight title shot.
Also securing a performance bonus was the debuting Daniel Rodriguez, who gave Tim Means real problems on the feet in the opening round, including badly rocking him right at the bell, leaving ‘The Dirty Bird’ on wobbly legs as he returned to his stool.
Means never fully recovered and Rodriguez would land more heavy blows in the second round before seizing upon a guillotine choke for the submission finish.
