UFC Fight Night 176 Proceeds With Only 7 Fights After Covid-19 Strikes Again

This evening’s UFC Fight Night 176 event in Las Vegas will now proceed with just 7 seven fights after several fighters tested positive for Covid-19 on the day of the show.

First up, the Thiago Moises vs. Jalin turner fight that was to feature on the main card has been scrapped due to there being “coronavirus concerns” in relation to Moises.

Meanwhile, Marcos Rogerio de Lima tested positive for Covid and as such his preliminary card fight with Alexander Romanov was also scratched from the line-up.

As if that wasn’t enough, Kevin Natividad had recently been moved up to a main card spot opposite Brian Kelleher earlier this week, but he now won’t be getting that opportunity after all due to his Covid-positive test, with Ray Rodriguez stepping in as his replacement.

Due to all the changes the UFC Fight Night 176 card will now go ahead with no prelims – instead changing up to a 7-fight main card that will begin an hour earlier than originally scheduled at 7pm ET (12am UK).

While tonight’s show has been particularly ravaged by Covid, it’s now become something of a trend for fights to be pulled at the last minute due to the virus, making the UFC’s job behind-the-scenes even more challenging than ever.
