Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 180 event on Fight Island the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a hard fought preliminary card battle between Mateusz Gamrot and Guram Kutateladze.
A former unbeaten KSW champion, Gamrot tried hard throughout the fight to get his strong grappling game going, but Kutateladze did well to fend off takedowns and find ways back upright to make the most of his striking opportunities, and that was enough to earn him a split decision victory, though he humbly claimed post-fight that his opponent should have won.
The first of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards was handed to co-main event winner Jessica Andrade who made a big impression in her flyweight debut by finishing the division’s No.1 contender Katlyn Chookagian with punishing body shots in the dying seconds of the round.
Also earning a performance bonus was Jimmy Crute, who demolished Modestas Bukauskas with a powerful right hand and then when he got unsteadily back to his foot put him back down again with a left hook to secure a first round KO finish.
