UFC Fight Night 183 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 183 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main event clash between Rafael dos Anjos and Paul Felder, which went the full five rounds.

Despite having only accepted the fight on five days notice, Felder gave a good account of himself early, showing crisp, fast striking, but dos Anjos was also looking sharp and also mixing things up well with clinch work and takedowns.

As the fight progressed it was RDA’s grappling that began to dictate the action more often and though Felder remained game until the end, he found less and less opportunities to make his mark.

In the end it looked like a fairly convincing win for dos Anjos, so it was surprising that it actually ended in a split decision verdict, with one judge curiously giving it to Felder by a 48-47 margin, while the other two judges ensured the Brazilian did emerge victorious with wide 50-45 scorecards.

Khaos Williams secured a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus with a thunderous 30 second KO against Abdul Razak Alhassan, rendering him unconscious with his first right hand of the fight.

Meanwhile, Sean Strickland earned the other performance award after a very good display against Brendan Allen that culminated in a second round TKO stoppage, dropping his opponent forward onto the mat with a hard left hook and right hand behind it, then blasting him more punches as he woozily got to his feet, leading to the referee stepping in to wave off the fight.
