UFC Fight Night 189 Down Three Fights Due To Covid And Injuries

The UFC Fight Night 189 event on June 5th has taken a hit in recent days with the news that three fights have been scratched from the line-up.

The first fight to be cut from the card is Amanda Ribas vs. Angela Hill, which has been postponed for the second time in the past month.

Ribas had previously been pulled from UFC On ESPN 24 on May 8th after she became a rare case in that she’s now tested positive for Covid on two separate occasions, and unfortunately she’s continuing to feel the effects of that a few weeks later and so she won’t be able to compete on the re-arranged date early next month.

Meanwhile, Maki Pitolo is out of his fight with Dusko Todorovic after picking up an injury. As things stand Todorovic remains on the card as the UFC scrambles to find a suitable replacement for Pitolo.

Finally, Amir Amirkhani is also in need of a new opponent after his originally scheduled dance partner Nate Landwehr was forced off the card due to an injury.

Despite the issues, UFC Fight Night 189 still proceeds with a card that’s headlined by heavyweight action as Jairzinho Rozenstruik fights Augusto Sakai, while Walt Harris goes up against Marcin Tybura in the co-main event.
