UFC Fight Night 199 Post-Fight Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 199 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a main card strawweight battle between Amanda Lemos and Angela Hill, which went the full three rounds.

Lemos made a major impact in the first round when she landed a front kick to the chin that rocked Hill and sent her to the canvas, but she demonstrated her toughness by soon battling her way back into the fight and hurt her opponent with an overhand right before the end of the round.

In the second and third rounds Lemos still carried the bigger power, but Hill was the one applying more pressure and stayed active offensively while also working in the clinch at times and surviving another front kick to the face in the final five minutes and briefly knocking Lemos down with a spinning elbow attack.

So the judges had a tough call to make and in the end it was Lemos who emerged with a split decision victory (28-29, 30-27, 29-28).

One of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses was rightly handed to Cub Swanson, who appeared to relish the opportunity to tee off on Darren Elkins in the early stages of their fight and soon had him in real trouble with his speed and power.

Elkins was sent to the canvas after his legs stiffened from a flurry of powerful hooks that landed flush, while when he got back up he was then greeted by a wheel kick that sent him staggering forward off-balance to seal the first round TKO Victory.

Also impressing enough to earn a performance award on the night was Melissa Gato, who sent Sijara Eubanks crumpling to the canvas in the third round after a well placed body kick that would lead her to a TKO stoppage win.
