The bout between two UFC heavyweight titans, Alexander Volkov and Jairzinho Rozenstruik is expected to take place on June 4 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the recent years, the interest in UFC has risen to the heights of the Champions League betting, so it is no wonder why this event generates massive attention. Stay tuned for five minutes to find out more about this spectacular contest between two guys who might easily find themselves in the title fight shortly.

Last Fight’s Record

Volkov comes into this bout following a loss to Tom Aspinal in the headliner of UFC 204 on March 19. The Russian lost via straight armbar submission. On the other side, Blaydes also suffered a defeat in his previous event. That was on September 25, 2021, at UFC 266 to Curtis Blaydes. The Razor picked up a unanimous decision victory.

Volkov vs Rozenstruik Betting Preview

According to the current odds, Volkov is the favorite at -165, while on the other side, Rozenstruik to win is at +135. The bookmakers believe that the former Bellator champion has what it takes to beat the Bigi Boy, who has posted mixed results lately. On the other hand, so did Volkov, but his opponents were relatively tougher.

Alexander Volkov

As said, the Russian is the former Bellator heavyweight champion and, at the moment, No.7 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. Over the last two years, many saw Volkov as a potential challenger, but he would lose that status along the way. In 2020, Drago was one win away from being in the mix for the title clash but lost to Curtis Blaydes. After that, he bounced back, but failed to beat Ciryl Gane in what was, for many, the title eliminator. The most recent failure came against Tom Aspinall, which hurt Volkov’s prospects a lot.

He is a massive guy who uses his kicks and punches very rationally and swiftly. Volkov has a kickboxing background, so it is no wonder why he fires leg kicks smoothly. Long reach makes his jab a very nasty problem, but the fact that he is a bit slower makes him vulnerable in several ways.

Volkov’s biggest issue is the ground fight, as he finds himself very uncomfortable on the mat, which was the primary reason for his previous losses. He can’t explode to release himself, and his size makes him a perfect target for quicker fighters.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik

This guy is probably the third hardest puncher in the division behind Ngannou and Derrick Lewis. One of his hooks can easily finish the fight without any problems. We saw that against Alistair Overeem once he sent the Dutch to la-la-land. He was getting beaten all over the octagon in that one, but eventually obliterated Overeem’s face.

His meteoric rise was maybe the problem for the Bigi Boy, as he faced Ngannou too soon, losing after 20 seconds. After that, it was back-and-forth for Rozenstruik, who would beat Junior dos Santos, then lose to Gane, win against Sakai, but suffer a convincing loss to Blaydes.

Apart from strong punching and solid kickboxing, we can’t really say that Rozenstruik has other advantages inside the octagon. He is pretty limited on the ground, even though he improved over the past few years. Also, his cardio is a bit questionable because we often see him breathing heavily at the end of the opening round.

Volkov vs Rozenstruik Betting Prediction

A longer reach will be one of Volkov’s advantages, as well as the fact that Rozenstruik isn’t some quick fighter who knows how to get things done on the ground. That’s why the Russian has better chances of winning. As seen in the past, the main problem for Volkov is grappling, and as mentioned, Rozenstruik isn’t a shining example in that aspect of the fight.
