Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 235 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
‘Fight Of The Night’ honors went to a preliminary card scrap between Charles Johnson and Azat Maksum that delivered a compelling 15 minutes of back-and-forth action.
The undefeated Maksum had come into the fight as the clear favorite and he gave Johnson a tough time in the first round, but couldn’t get a finish. Then Johnson defied his three-fight losing streak as he put on a gutsy display to battle back into the fight in the rounds that followed to emerge with a unanimous decision victory.
Meanwhile, Molly McCann got back to winning ways in uncompromising fashion and earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus into the bargain as she got the better of Diana Belbita and then delivered an armbar submission finish late in the first round that left her opponent screaming in pain.
Also earning a performance bonus was Randy Brown, who sent Muslim Salikhov crashing to the canvas late in the first round after going for a double jab and then following up with a powerful right hand for a TKO finish.
