UFC On ABC 3 Bonus Awards

Following yesterday’s UFC On ABC 3 event the recipients of the $50,000 post-fight bonus awards were announced.

The ‘Fight Of The Night’ was never in doubt after a comeback for the ages occurred in the main card war between Matt Schnell and Sumadaerji.

In the second round Sumadaerji began to beat Schnell from pillar to post with punches and elbows, visibly rocking him on numerous occasions to the point where it felt like the ref would be more than justified to step in and save him.

However, Schnell somehow stayed upright and then proceeded to stun Sumudaerji with a big punch before taking him to the mat and got full mount, then dished out payback with a series of brutal elbows that left his opponent covered in blood. With the ref about to step in Sumudaerji suddenly summoned up the energy to pull off a reversal, but as he got on top Schnell transitioned to a triangle choke and choked him unconscious for a stunning comeback victory.

Meanwhile, the UFC brass were clearly feeling generous with a further six ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses also being dished out.

Co-main event winner Amanda Lemos took home one of those awards after she was able to seize upon a second round guillotine choke submission against Michelle Waterson to force a tapout.

Li Jingliang also secured a bonus after he ended Muslim Salikhov’s five-fight winning streak, hurting him with a right hand and then sending him to the mat with another, with follow-up strikes sealing the TKO finish.

Punahale Soriano scored a big KO victory against Dalcha Lungiambula early in the second round with a heavy overhand left putting him down on one knee and a follow-up punch then turning the lights off.

Meanwhile, Ricky Simon claimed a bonus while racking up his fifth win in a row with an arm-triangle choke submission of Jack Shore.

Bill Algeo also got in on the action after he managed to survive a dangerous triangle choke attempt from Herbert Burns and then quickly began to gain the upperhand over his wilting opponent to the point that in the second round Burns couldn’t answer the ref’s call to get back to his feet, resulting in a TKO stoppage.

The final bonus award was scooped up by Dustin Jacoby, who KO’d Da Un Jung in the opening round with a single straight right.
