UFC On ESPN 11 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 11 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonuses were announced.

There was never going to be any doubt about who won ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors after Josh Emmett and Shane Burgos put on a hard-hitting featherweight classic in the co-main event.

From the start Emmett was finding a home for his bomb of a right hand, but somehow Burgos chin was standing up to it and he was continually pressing forward and landing punishing leg kicks in particular, made more effective by the fact his opponent had already appeared to hurt his knee early in the fight.

Both men threw everything they had at each other for three rounds, but in the final five minutes Emmett’s power finally started to take a toll on Burgos, who was dropped twice, yet still got back up and continued to fight at a ferocious pace.

In the end Emmett emerged victorious by unanimous decision, but both men came away with plaudits for their action-packed efforts on the night.

Meanwhile, Jim Miller secured a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he showed his veteran skills on the mat against up-and-comer Roosevelt Roberts, capitalizing on a scramble in the opening round to go for an armbar from his back and produce the tapout.

Also earning a performance bonus was Justin Jaynes, who only took his fight with Frank Camacho on a few days notice, but came out swinging and floored his opponent with hooks then kept hammering away when he got back up to earn himself a TKO victory after just 41 seconds.
