Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 8 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was Marlon Vera and Song Yadong who left it all in the cage during an exciting back-and-forth battle waged over 15 minutes.
Yadong was throwing powerful strikes, but Vera kept things very competitive on the feet and also landed some good takedowns too, which he felt had helped swing the fight in his favor, only to be left frustrated when it was Song who emerged with a unanimous decision victory.
Cortney Casey earned one of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses after she secured a first round armbar submission victory against Mara Romero Borella.
Also securing a performance bonus was Miguel Baeza who found himself in real danger in the opening round as Matt Brown went looking for a finish, but survived that onslaught and started to gain the upperhand late in the round, only to then floored him with a single punch early in the second to earn a TKO victory.
