UFC To Test All Fighters Before They Leave For Fight Island

The UFC is taking additional steps to ensure that all the fighters who arrive at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi for a series of events in July are not carrying the Covid-19 virus.

For the UFC’s recent shows fighters were tested upon their arrival at the fight location in Jacksonville, Florida and most recently Las Vegas, but that won’t be the case this time around.

Instead, the UFC plans to to test everyone involved before they fly out to the island, with those based in the U.S. being flown out to Las Vegas first to receive the check, while the eight fighters from Brazil who are competing on the cards will be taken to Sao Paulo first.

After the testing has been completed they will then have to isolate in a hotel for two days until the results come back before being allowed to get on a chartered plane to the fight destination.

When the fighters arrive at Yas Island they will find themselves in a large safety zone that incorporates the fight arena, hotel, private training quarters and dining areas which are only available to those associated with the UFC events, from fighters to coaches, cornermen and backroom staff.
