Wanderlei Silva Vs Quinton Rampage Jackson IV Set For Bellator For September

Another showdown between veteran rivals Wanderlei Silva and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is set to take place in the Bellator promotion in California on September 29th.

That’s the word according to Silva himself, who made the announcement on social media, though this appears to be somewhat premature given that the promotion have not yet made the fight official and have a press conference in New York City scheduled for June 26th that both fighters are believed to be a part of.

The bitter rivalry between these two goes all the way back to their days in the PRIDE organization, where ‘The Axe-Murderer’ would twice get the better of ‘Rampage’ in brutal fashion, TKO’ing him with knees to win the PRIDE middleweight grand-prix in 2003 and then the following year knocking him out with knees again to successfully defend his title.

However, ‘Rampage’ would then get his revenge four years later in the UFC, knocking out Silva with a punch in the first round.

That was back in 2009, and since then Silva has only fought seven times, going 3-4 during that period, with his latest fight being a unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen in his return to action after a four year absence last year in the Bellator promotion.

Jackson has been far more active over the same period, going 8-6 while competing for the UFC and then Bellator, with his last fight also being a decision loss to the aforementioned Sonnen.
