There’s great news today regarding MMA legend Mark Coleman as he’s now regained consciousness after being rescued from a fire at his parent’s home earlier this week.
The 59-year-old Coleman had been hailed a hero after rescuing his parents from the burning building and then going back to try to get his dog ‘Hammer’, but sadly he was unable to and eventually was overcome by smoke inhalation, leading to him being rushed to hospital in critical condition.
However, the UFC’s first ever heavyweight champion, two-time tournament winner and PRIDE 2000 open-weight grand-prix champion has proven once again just how ridiculously tough he is by regaining consciousness and now speaking out about his experience from his hospital bed, even as he is still clearly struggling with the symptoms he suffered during the fire.
“I’m the happiest man in the world,” Coleman said in a video posted on Instagram while surrounded by his family. “Sweet God, I’m so lucky. I can’t believe my parents are alive. … I had to make a decision, Wes. Because I got out of my room and went to the door and it was already horrible. I couldn’t breathe. I almost had to go outside and I went back in and got them. I can’t believe I got them but I couldn’t find (our dog) Hammer.”
A gofundme page looking to raise money for the star and his family has already surpassed it’s $50,000 goal and at the time of writing has reached over $70,000.
