A heavyweight fight between Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione has been rescheduled for UFC 165 on September 21st.

The fight had originally been planned for next weekend’s ‘UFC On FOX 8’ fight card, but an injury to Mitrione saw it being scratched from the line-up.

Thankfully the injury wasn’t too serious however, and so rather than find a new opponent for Schaub, the UFC opted to just postpone the fight between the two former TUF 10 competitors.

Both fighters are coming off victories in their last Octagon outings, with Schaub earning a decision win over Lavar Johnson, while Mitrione KO’d Phil De Fries.

UFC 165 is set to be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight featuring Jon Jones Vs Alexander Gustafsson, with an interim bantamweight title bout between Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland scheduled as the co-main event.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
