Prelims:
Ilir Latifi defeats Chris Dempsey by TKO at 2.07mins of Rd1
Latifi put a hurting on Dempsey in a 10 second spell early in the final prelim. First he took Dempsey clean off his feet with a hard leg kick. Then when he got back up he immediately rushed forward with punches, glancing him with a right to the temple, then a left before landing a final right hand that dropped Dempsey lifelessly against the cage. It looked like a clear KO, but officially it was declared as a TKO stoppage.
Neil Seery defeats Phil Harris by unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
Seery continued what’s been a great night for Irish fighters in Dublin so far as he continually outstruck Harris, wobbling him at times, in an accomplished performance over the course of three rounds to earn a clean sweep on the judges scorecards.
Cathal Pendred defeats Mike King by submission (rear-naked choke) at 3.33mins of Rd2
Pendred looked to be outclassed in the opening round as King put a fair sized beating on him, rocking him on the feet, controlling him on the mat and threatening to stop him with a rear-naked choke. Pendred was getting worn down, but never gave up, and luckily for him by the closing stages of the round King looked to be running out of steam and he was able to get back upright. Nonetheless it had all the makings of a 10-8 round for King. Both men were running on fumes heading into the second and the action was getting sloppy, but it was Pendred, roared on by his home fans, that dug deeper into his reserves, managing to get King to the ground mid-way through the round, taking his back and then sinking in the choke. King was completely spent by this stage and seemed to be choked unconscious in a matter of seconds.
Trevor Smith defeats Tor Troeng by unanimous decision (29-28 x3)
Troeng started the brighter of the two in this middleweight encounter, but it was Smith who would go on to gain the ascendency as the fight progressed, enjoying a significant period of time in top control and threatening with a guillotine choke in the second round and then spending most of the final round on top attempting, but not managing to find, a finish from several submission attempts.
Nikita Krylov defeats Cody Donovan by TKO at 4.57mins of Rd1
This was a back and forth battle right from the opening bell with both men letting their hands go from range and in the clinch, while also showing a willingness to engage on the mat. Krylov looked to be getting the upper-hand in the second half of the round as he aggressively pursued Donovan with strikes, only to be caught with a counter that dropped him to the mat. Donovan followed him down and took his back to attempt a choke, but he looked to be tiring and Krylov was able to turn and end up on top. Donovan tried to turn away and Krylov got his back with his hooks in and started to land ground and pound until the referee ended the fight with just seconds of the round remaining.
Patrick Holohan defeats Josh Sampo by submission (rear-naked choke) at 3.06mins of Rd1
The Irish crowd are already in full voice for the first prelim and they had plenty to cheer about as they watched one of their own, the debuting Holohan, produce a quick submission finish against Sampo after initially flooring him with an uppercut.
