There will be more super fights
Silva vs Diaz is in the books and was one that will be memorable. What people remember about it, and how they feel about it can be vary, but it won’t be forgotten. Now with Edgar and Faber booked, Ben Henderson moving up to save a card, and talks of Mighty Mouse making another run at bantamweight the prospects look good. Instead of relying on one big super fight to rule them all like Silva vs GSP or Silva vs Jones, the UFC is booking the fights not only fans want, but ones fighters want as well. It was clear from the start that neither of the aforementioned fights were going to happen but that didn’t stop the wolf tickets from being sold. Champion vs champion matches are hard to book, someone will almost always have a legitimate claim for a shot at the champ in their weight class before he fights in another. The contenders in limbo or in clogged divisions that want to stay active and prove they still have what it takes are more willing to take a big name or a super fight. A champion has too much on the line to risk it all.
