An Idiot’s Guide to Aussie and Kiwi Fighters UFC Fight Night 65: Part 2

Perfect Ten at the age of Twenty

Jake Matthews ready for UFC big time as he prepares for Sydney ...

Jake “The Celtic Kid” Matthews is getting a great deal of attention from the top man in UFC. It is not often a young man of twenty, not even of legal drinking age in the USA is on the main card in an UFC event. Off to a flying start in his professional career with 9 fights and 9 wins under his belt, Matthews will no doubt be chasing a theatrical finish to his perfect 10. So far he has only 1 decision win and the rest a balance of submission and knock out wins. Whatever the outcome Matthews almost guarantees an entertaining fight.

“Nothing scares me more than just having a normal life and being average,” Matthews once said in an interview with news.com.au. “I want to do something with my life and be successful in the UFC. I tell myself that every morning.” For most fighters to be featured in the UFC is already a dream come true. Plenty of very successful fighters finish a glorious career with a few losses here and there. Matthews may well be pursuing a career of a higher league, perhaps one of a complete ‘green’ slate, or perhaps to become an undefeatable champion like Rousey or dare I say, Mayweather.
