Rafael dos Anjos vs. Benson Henderson

For the last few years, Rafael dos Anjos has been a dark horse of the UFC Lightweight division, having quietly but convincingly winning his way into the top ten by beating such fighters as Evan Dunham and Donald Cerrone.

However, the Brazilian had never achieved the accolades Henderson – a former WEC and UFC Lightweight champion – has achieved in his career.

Henderson had also only ever lost to one man since March 2007, current UFC champion Anthony Pettis, and had beaten a number of top contenders in his MMA career such as Donald Cerrone (twice), Frankie Edgar (twice) and Gilbert Melendez.

That did not phase dos Anjos, however, as he became the first fighter to ever defeat Henderson by TKO in MMA competition, and it took him just 2:31 to do it.

The win over a former defending champion and the method in which it was done helps make dos Anjos’s victory over Henderson a notable upset of 2014.
