Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

The biggest takeaway from UFC 177 is that you obviously can’t judge an event on its star power. In these days of packed UFC schedules and an overflowing roster, the necessity is there for more and more events, and the promotion doesn’t seem to be willing to relent on that strategy.

So instead of judging an event before it even happens based on name recognition alone, perhaps we should respect the fighters for the performances they put on after the fact. Plenty of events have had stacked lineups and failed to deliver. If a card looks bad and ends up being bad, then we can deem it as such, but until then, perhaps we should wait and see what happens first.
