Ronaldo Souza defeats Yushin Okami by TKO at 2.47mins of Rd1

Fight Report

Joseph Benavidez defeats Jussier “Formiga” da Silva by TKO at 3.07mins of Rd1

Fight Report

Piotr Hallmann defeats Francisco Trinaldo by submission (kimura) at 3.50mins of Rd2

Nasty submission by Hallmann here, seizing ahold of a kimura in the second round and cranking on it hard to force a tap from Trinaldo who was clearly in pain. Trinaldo had being doing well up until that point, hurting Hallman badly with two liver kicks in the first round that had him in danger of being finished, but he toughed it out and was duly rewarded.

Rafael Natal defeats Tor Troeng by decision (30-27 x2, 29-28)

Troeng showed himself to be a tough customer in this fight as Natal had him in real trouble several times here, yet he managed to survive to the final bell and played a part in some entertaining grappling exchanges. Natal had him rocked in the first round with strikes though, sent him to the canvas with a vicious right hand in the second and also threatened with submission several times during the fight, but ultimately couldn’t find the finish. Overall it’s the most enjoyable fight of the night so far.

Ali Bagautinov defeats Marcos Vinicius by TKO at 3.28mins of Rd3

Bagautinov stated off this fight strongly, dropping Vinicius with a barrage of blows, then cooled off until mid-way through the third round when he suddenly landed a flush right hand to the face of Vinicius that floored him, then followed up with a few more strikes to seal the TKO win.

Prelims:

Edmilson Souza defeats Felipe Arantes by unanimous decision (29-28 x2, 28-29)

Souza used his reach advantage to good effect here, maintaining distance well and landing hard shots while taking little damage in return. Arantes had his moments with a few takedowns, but perhaps should have persued that avenue more often and his failure to do so sees him come up on the wrong end of a split decision verdict.

Lucas Martins defeats Ramiro Hernandez by submission (rear naked choke) at 1.10mins of Rd1

Martins makes short work of Hernandez here, rocking him on the feet and then dragging him down to the mat for the rear-naked choke finish just over a minute into the fight.

Elias Silverio defeats Joao Zeferino by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27 x2)

The debuting Silverio bossed this fight, finding a lot of success with takedowns and top control while shutting down Zeferino’s own attempts to the do the same and cruised to a decision victory.

Ivan Jorge defeats Keith Wisniewski by unanimous decision (29-28 x2, 30-27)

Not much between the two fighters in this fairly underwhelming bout, but though Wisniewski seemed to be getting slightly the better of it, Jorge showed some decent work from the clinch in the third round which may have sealed a favorable impression in the minds of the judges, resulting in a decision victory. Early days yet, but already some odd scoring from those at cage-side in this event.

Sean Spencer defeats Yuri Villefort by split decision (29-28 x2, 27-30)

These two opted to slug it out on the feet for three rounds and it was fairly close, but Spencer was edging it and gets his first win inside the Octagon by split decision.
