Erick Silva defeats Jason High by submission (armbar) at 1.11mins of Rd1
Daniel Sarafian defeats Eddie Mendez by submission (arm triangle) at 2.20mins of Rd1
Another quick finish here as Sarafian gets an early takedown and secures an arm triangle submission.
Rony Jason defeats Mike Wilkinson by submission (triangle choke) at 1.24mins of Rd1
Wilkinson got caught with a left hand in an early exchange and immediately dropped down for a takedown which he landed. Before he could do anything with the position Jason threw up a triangle choke and quickly adjusted to lock it in tight. He landed a few elbows to Wilkinson’s head for good measure, but from the looks of things his opponent was already out cold and so the fight was swiftly stopped.
Prelims:
Raphael Assuncao defeats Vaughan Lee by submission (armbar) at 1.51mins of Rd2
Assuncao’s superior grappling was the big difference in this fight. He was able to achieve mount late in the first round but there wasn’t enough time to find a finish. However, after getting the fight down to the mat again in the second he began immediately looking for the finish by armbar, and despite Lee’s best efforts to scramble out of it he was eventually forced to tap.
Felipe Arantes defeats Godofredo Castro by TKO at 3.52mins of Rd1
This fight hit the mat early and Arantes was able to get on top. Just as he was looking to establish himself there Castro looked for a kimura and used it to sweep into full mount. He looked fairly secure from there, but apparently not for long as Arantes spotted an opportunity to throw his legs up and produce an excellent sweep to get back to top control. On this occasion he wasted no time in launching a ground and pound assault and immediately started to have an impact with big elbow strikes that bounced Castro’s head of the canvas. Castro seemed a little dazed as Arantes poured on more punishment and that resulted in the referee stepping in to call an end to the fight.
Ildemar Alcantara defeats Leandro Silva by unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
Not the most exciting fight, but Alcantara did get the better of what action there was to claim a comfortable decision win.
Rodrigo Damm defeats Mizuto Hirota by split decision (29-28 x2, 28-29)
For the most part this was a striking slug-fest. Hirota was the one initiating much of the striking exchanges, but Damm did a very good job in the first round of landing his counters. In the second there was more of the same, though Hirota was finding his target more and landed a few nice combinations. In the third Hirota started brighter and was working nicely to the body now as well, but mid-way through Damm started to come to life again and landed some solid kicks. Then he looked for a takedown and eventually scored with an impressive suplex, though Hirota was quickly back to his feet. That likely caught the judges eys though and helped Damm to a split decision win.
Caio Magalhaes defeats Karlos Vemola by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2.49mins of Rd2
In the first round Vemola was the bully, scoring some big takedowns and landing effective ground and pound using his elbows in particular. Magalhaes was able to threaten with a few submission attempts, but couldn’t find a finish. In the second round both men looked a little tired, but Magalhaes dug deep and from the clinch against the cage was able to secure a takedown of his own. He then gave Vemola a taste of his own medicine with ground and pound before eventually managing to work to his back and produce the rear-naked choke finish.
Antonio Braga Neto defeats Anthony Smith by submission (knee bar) at 1.52mins of Rd1
After some early striking exchanges Neto looked for the takedown and secured it at the second attempt. Smith looked to use the cage to perform an escape, but only found himself in deeper trouble as Neto latched onto a kneebar. He cranked on it and Smith appeared to be in severe pain as he frantically tapped out.
