Reiner de Ridder punished Roman Dolidze for welcoming a ground battle tonight at UFC Fight Night 285 by TKO’ing him before the opening round was over.
Round One
De Ridder looking for kicks early. Surprisingly Dolidze opts to pull guard. De Ridder settling on top in the center of the Octagon.
Dolidze trying for a knee bar, but RDR stays patient and gradually gets his limb to safety while landing some ground-and-pound punches and elbows.
Dolidze still trying to get a leg lock going, but he’s not having success with this and de Ridder is starting to really let his ground-and-pound go.
Dolidze on all fours now and just covering up as RDR continues to land repeated punches. Dolidze rolls to his back. De Ridder tries to pass to mount but doesn’t quite get it. He resets, then slickly passes to side control and gets full mount this time.
Dolidze gives up his back and RDR goes right back to landing strikes from there, and with Dolidze just covering up the ref rightly steps in and ends the fight, with de Ridder’s TKO finish coming at 4.01mins of the first round.
Terrible game-plan from Dolidze there to pull guard on a superior grappler and then stubbornly go for leg locks even while eating big shots.
