Beneil Dariush defeats Michael Johnson by split decision (29-28 x2, 28-29)
Derek Brunson defeats Sam Alvey by TKO at 2.19mins of Rd1
Jared Rosholt defeats Timothy Johnson by unanimous decision (29-28 x3)
Rosholt outgrappled Johnson in the opening two rounds of this fight, but found himself having to hang on in there in the third round as Johnson started swinging for the fences and landed some big shots. It was too little, too late though as Rosholt weathered the storm and claimed a decision victory.
Amanda Nunes defeats Sara McMann by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2.53mins of Rd1
Big upset win here! McMann looked to take Nunes down early, but despite her Olympic level skills the Brazilian stuffed the attempts and then made her pay. A spinning kick to the head almost connected cleanly, but soon after it was a perfect straight right hurt that McMann badly and she then turned away from more punches , eating a left in there as she sunk to the mat. Nunes looked to finish her on the mat with strikes, but despite still being dazed McMann just about hung in there. However Nunes wasn’t going to let the moment pass and she was able to take McMann’s back and sink in the fight-ending choke.
Ray Borg defeats Geane Herrera by unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
Borg dominated this match on the mat with a strong showing from top position, but credit is due to Herrera who showed some outstanding submission defense throughout the bout to force this one to a decision.
