Recently retired fighter Brian Stann will step into the broadcast booth at UFC 163 next weekend alongside Mike Goldberg.
Stann will be replacing regular color commentator Joe Rogan who has a prior commitment that’ll leave him unable to attend the event in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Rogan is expected to resume his regular role for coming events, including the ‘UFC Fight Night: Sonnen Vs Shogun’ show to launch FOX Sports 1 a couple of weeks later.
The 32 year-old former marine recently announced that he was hanging up his gloves for good after a KO loss to Wanderlei Silva, leaving him with a 12-6 career record.
While color-commentary for the UFC is a new endeavour for Stann, he has already proven himself to be adept on the mic during his various other broadcasting assignments for the company in recent years, including being an analyst on the live ‘UFC On FOX’ and ‘UFC On Fuel TV’ shows to name but a few. Stann also revealed upon his retirement that he would be taking on a new role as a color commentator for FOX Sports ACC college football games.
UFC 163 takes place on August 3rd and sees Jose Aldo defending his featherweight title against Eddie Wineland in the main event.
