Conor McGregor Tells Dustin Poirier Trilogy Fight Is Off After Charity Dispute

Conor McGregor interview

After Dustin Poirier bombshell allegation in recent days that Conor McGregor reneged on his promise to pay his ‘Good Fight Foundation’ charity $500,000 earlier this year, ‘The Notorious’ has now fired back by scrapping their trilogy fight, which was due to take place on July 10th.

“You’re ripped you inbred hillbilly.” Mcgregor wrote to Poirier as the up-until-recently cordial relationship between the two disintegrated. “Why do you wink with your ears? You fucking brain dead hillbilly. 500k with no plan in place. Ye hang tight. Fool. You must be new to money.

“The fight is off btw. I’m going to fight someone else on the 10th. Good luck on your old contract kid.”

“My team does their due diligence to make sure every donation meets the mark,” McGregor continued. “My generosity is known. You will pay with your brain for this attempt at smearing my name. Shooting ass shelling ass bitch. Little bitch kicks from a shell. Good luck when you’re caught. You’re fucked.”

The trilogy fight had been set to be Poirier’s biggest payday by far, so threatening to pull out of the bout is a big power move by McGregor, who after the recent sale of his Proper 12 whiskey brand is estimated to have a net worth north of $300 million.

It remains to be seen if he will actually go through with that threat though as Poirier currently retains bragging rights due to his recent TKO win over McGregor back in January (a highlight of which he posted as a response to McGregor’s ‘hillbilly’ taunt), and as the No.1 contender could very well land a title shot against the winner of Charles Oliveira vs. Michael Chandler instead.

A title win for Poirier could then put the two rivals on a collision course again, but this time with ‘The Diamond’ holding the reigns.
