A middleweight match-up between Luke Rockhold and Tim Boetsch has been signed for UFC 166 on October 19th.

Both men are looking to rebound after recent losses in the UFC.  Former Strikeforce 185lb champion Rockhold’s UFC debut came to an abrupt end against Vitor Belfort, falling victim to a second round spinning kick knockout.  Prior to that Rockhold had been unbeaten in his previous nine fights though, so he still fancies himself as a major player in the division.

It wasn’t so long ago that Boetsch was also on a solid winning streak, racking up four victories after moving down to the middleweight division, but he’s found life more difficult lately with back-to-back defeats to Costa Philippou and Mark Munoz.

Rockhold Vs Boetsch is likely to feature on UFC 166’s main card alongside the already confirmed headliner between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos, plus yesterday’s announced co-main feature between Daniel Cormier and Roy Nelson.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
