Spenser Confidential: New Mark Wahlberg Movie With MMA Twist Coming To Netflix

A new movie with an MMA twist called ‘Spenser Confidential’ starring Mark Wahlberg is heading to Netflix on March 6th.

The Boston crime drama sees Wahlberg’s character teaming up with an MMA fighter played by Winston Duke (Black Panther, Avengers: End Game, US) to solve a double homicide.

Directed by Peter Berg (an MMA fan who previously paired Walhberg with Ronda Rousey for Mile 22), the movie is reportedly adapted from the Ace Atkins novel, ‘Wonderland’ but is based on the Robert B. Parker detective novels starring the Spenser character, which previously spawned a 1980’s ABC show called ‘Spenser For Hire’ as well as several TV movies.

Donald Cerrone is believed to have a minor part in the movie, alongside veteran Hollywood actor Alan Arkin, comedians Iliza Schlesinger and Marc Maron and musician Post Malone.

The screenwriter for the project is Brian Helgeland, who won a ‘Best Adapated Screenplay’ Oscar for ‘L.A. Confidential’ and was also nominated in the past for ‘Mystic River.’
