UFC 180: Ricardo Lamas vs Dennis Bermudez Highlights - LowKick MMA

We have to consider how good Jose Aldo is when assessing the rest of the division

MMA math is not a reliable tool for every prediction. Sometimes though, you can draw some logical conclusions. If Jose Aldo was able to out class Ricardo Lamas for 25 minutes, and it only took Lamas 3 minutes to dispatch of someone on a seven fight winning streak, it is safe to say Dennis Bermudez was not anywhere near ready for a title shot. Dennis beat a lot of guys, but his best victory is Clay Guida who, although a fan favorite, really isn’t that good and has some pretty lucky decisions on his record. There is a huge jump between the top ten at featherweight and the top five. Lamas proved that and showed how deadly a good jab can be. Ricardo knew Dennis was going to go for a takedown after being rocked and grabbed the exposed neck and slid to the side with incredible speed and accuracy. That finish was a work of art. That shows just how good Lamas is, and that shows how good Jose Aldo is. Jose has another couple years as one of the pound for pound best. That loss to Aldo was so one sided Ricardo might need a seven fight winning streak of his own to earn another title shot. Which is okay. Between McGregor, Edgar, Swanson, and Mendes there are plenty of exciting options for the Bully.
