Paige VanZant

At just 20 years old Paige VanZant is the youngest female fighter on the UFC roster. The Oregon native began her mixed martial arts career just two years ago and has since gone 4-1, her only loss came at the hands of Tecia Torres in Invicta fighting championship. VanZant who was only 18 at the time was later praised for her composure even though she lost the unanimous decision.

When the UFC decided to scoop up Invicta’s 115 pound women’s division to create a new series of the ultimate fighter, Paige was originally a member of the cast. However she was late removed from the show due to only being 20 years old, the presence of alcohol in the house set the age limit at 21. Her UFC debut came later in 2014 when she took on Kailin

Curran at Fight Night 57. VanZant won the fight via TKO in the third round and was awarded fight of the night honours. She became an instant success that night in Texas, her fighting style, spectacular victory, outgoing personality, ability on the mic and her look all combined to create intrigue beyond the norm for a UFC debutant.

Since that fight Paige has been interviewed by countless mainstream media outlets, her next bout against Felice Herrig is being heavily publicised and will take place on the main card of UFC on Fox 15. She has also just become the latest fighter to be sponsored by Reebok along with several of the top names and champions in the UFC. She has beauty, business savvy and ever evolving skills in the octagon. Although young in her career, if she can keep on winning in the UFC she could be well on her way to becoming the next Ronda Rousey.
