The UFC announced today that they are doing away with their customary ‘Knockout Of The Night’ bonus in favor of a new ‘Performance Of The Night’ award.
In memory of the bonus we take a look through the record books to see who’ll go down in history as having won the most of these coveted bonus awards.
3. Chris Leben: 4 ‘Knockout Of The Night Bonuses
Tied with three other fighters in third place is the recently retired Chris ‘The Crippler’ Leben who collected a total of four bonuses thanks to his heavy-handed stoppages inside the Octagon.
He claimed his first back in 2006 against Jorge Santiago, then won back-to-back bonuses in 2007 for stoppages against Terry Martin and Alessio Sakara, before adding one final one in 2010 against Aaron Simpson.
His 27 second knockout of Wanderlei Silva in 2011 would also have been a strong candidate for the award had it not been for Carlos Condit’s spectacular flying knee finish against Dong Hyun Kim earlier that same evening.
