Frankie Edgar is one of the best featherweight fighters in the world, and he knows it. It is that confidence that leads him to taking fights like Urijah Faber while he waits for the title picture to develop. Some fighters are willing to wait it out for a shot at the gold. Edgar knows he can beat any other 145lb fighter and has no qualms with taking fights instead of waiting. Urijah Faber may have been a bantamweight fighter for the last couple years, but that shouldn’t erase his accomplishments at the higher weight class or diminish Edgar’s performance. Even at featherweight Faber had never been defeated by someone who wasn’t the champ. Edgar made it look easy. Faber was completely outstruck and lost every round. Taking a dangerous fight like Faber and putting on a performance like that when he could have easily waited it out for a title shot is huge statement to the rest of the division.
