Chris Weidman
It was not just what he said, or what he did, but how he did it that makes it impressive. Vitor Belfort landed a clean hook to Weidman’s jaw and it stunned him but didn’t finish him. He still had the coherence to properly cover up. The kid has a chin, and if Vitor or Machida can’t knock him out while landing flush, there aren’t a whole lot of middleweights who can. Most people watching probably did not believe Belfort was a black belt on the ground. He had nothing to offer the champ once Chris took it to the mat. Weidman is that good and he was valid in saying what he said post fight. If you still doubt him after that performance you are doing so for personal reasons. If it is Rockhold first, then Souza versus Weidman, it doesn’t matter because he beats both. His MMA wrestling is that good. Luke and Jacare both have devastating top games but believe me they will be on bottom when they fight Weidman. His performance and subsequent callout were more than statements to the middleweight division it was a statement to the MMA community.
