Kevin Holland Helps Apprehend Shooting Suspect At Houston Restaurant

When he’s not fighting in the UFC, Kevin Holland seems to be finding a knack for being in the right place at the right time to help apprehend criminals, with his latest heroics coming at a restaurant in Houston on Monday night.

Holland was with a friend, Patrick Robinson, who also trains martial arts at RA Sushi in the Highland Park region of Houston when a man suddenly fired a gun into the air.

“Next thing you know, you just hear a ‘pop’ and then everybody started getting down,” Robinson told Houston’s NBC-2 TV station. “Everybody started getting down.

“Next thing you know, me and my buddy, we ran to the shooter, got him down, strangled him, took the gun from him, and then called the police. Police came and got him.”

It later emerged that Holland was the friend that Robinson was referring to, with the UFC star posting a video from the scene of the incident on Instagram in which he said he had declined to be interviewed on camera.

“I laugh a lot even when things aren’t funny,” Holland wrote in his story. “I smile when I should frown. Super blessed and thankful to see today. Kiss ya kids, hug ya family and treat random people with care. You never know what a mfer may be going through.”

The 24-year-old suspect, who was already wanted for failing to appear in court over a criminal mischief charge, has been arrested and now faces charges of possessing a stolen gun and discharging a firearm, while narcotics were also found in his possession when he was being apprehended.

This is Kevin Holland’s second stint as a crime-fighting hero, having also got into a high-speed chase with a car thief last year in Texas before chasing him down on foot and keeping him pinned down until police arrived.

Meanwhile, in the Octagon, the 29-year-old got back to winning ways earlier this month with a second round TKO victory against Alex Oliveira in his first fight down at welterweight.
