Prelims:
John Dodson defeats Zach Makovsky by unanimous decision (29-28 x3)
After a long injury layoff Dodson proved he’s still one of the top dogs at flyweight tonight with a unanimous decision win in a battle largely fought on the feet, but Makovsky didn’t make it easy for him and made it a relatively close fight.
Dong Hyun Kim defeats Josh Burkman by submission (arm triangle) at 2.13mins of Rd3
Kim proved to be the stronger, more dominant grappler here and capped off his performance with a nice arm triangle submission stoppage in the third round not long after Burkman had him rocked on the feet with a big knee and follow-up strikes.
Rafael Natal defeats Uriah Hall by split decision (29-28 x2, 28-29)
not a whole lot between the two men here, with Hall’s striking allowing him to get the better of the first round, while Natal got more of the mat time on top in the second. The third was less clear cut, but there was a bit more energy and momentum behind Natal’s work which may just have been the deciding factor here.
Nina Ansaroff vs. Rose Namajunas
Fight canceled tonight as Ansaroff was deemed medically unfit to fight due to flu symptoms. She had weighed in 4lbs over the strawweight limit on Friday.
Colby Covington defeats Mike Pyle by unanimous decision (30-27 x2, 29-28)
Covington’s wrestling prowess proved too much for the veteran Pyle tonight as he grinded out a solid decision victory.
Islam Makhachev defeats Leo Kuntz by submission at 2.38mins of Rd2
Makhachev looked good here and after some nice takedowns he finally got his payoff mid-way through the second round as he took Kuntz’s back and swooped for a rear-naked choke finish.
Justin Scoggins def. Josh Sampo via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
Scoggins essentially dominated Sampo on the feet here with kicks aplenty while also defending the vast majority of Sampo’s takedown attempts en-route to a clean sweep on the scorecards.
