Fight Report

Daniel Kelly defeats Antonio Carlos Junior by TKO at 1.36mins of Rd3

Carlos Junior was the big favorite in this fight and in the first round it was certainly playing out that way in the opening round as he took Kelly down, got on his back and stayed their for the remainder of the five minutes spell. He wasn’t able to find a finish though, and as the fight moved into the later rounds Kelly became to come into the fight more and more, while his opponent seemed to be gradually slowing down and wasn’t able to find the same success on the mat. Then the final round Kelly really turned the fight on it’s head when he hurt Carlos Junior with a kick to the face, then stuffed a sloppy takedown attempt and punished the former TUF Brazil winner with relentless ground and pound until the TKO stoppage.

Steve Bosse defeats James Te Huna by KO at 0.52mins of Rd1

This always looked like being a stand-up war, but it had only just got going when Bosse cracked Te Huna with a big right to the chin that collapsed him in a heap on the canvas and brought a swift conclusion to the fight.

Bec Rawlings defeats Seo Hee Ham defeats by unanimous decision (30-27 x2, 29-28)

A close, competitive fight here as these two slugged it out on the feet, particularly in the early rounds. Generally Ham was showing the more accuracy in her work despite being at a size disadvantage and had the greater volume of strikes, but Rawlings was engaging well too and had more pop in her punches. In the second the stand-up action was broken up by a takedown from Rawlings which helped score her points with the judges, though the grappling appeared to tire here a little. That became noticeable in the final round and Ham almost capitalized with a submission attempt on the mat, but Rawlings dug deep and utilized clinch work against the cage in the latter stages of another close round. In the end all three judges saw the fight in Rawlings favor by unanimous decision, with the scoring perhaps being a little unfair to Ham.
