Volkan Oezdemir earned a first round submission finish over Bogdan Guskov tonight at UFC Fight Night 226.
Round One:
Leg kick from Oezdemir. Guskov looks for a flurry of punches. Leg kick for Oezdemir. He goes for another but misses and backs off to reset.
Jab lands for Oezdemir. He presses forward and Guskov looks to counter. Hard punch from Oezdemir. Oezdemir ducks in for a takedown now and lands it.
Oezdemir in half-guard now. Guskov gets to full guard. He’s onto a knee now and looking to stand but Oezdemir keeps him down for now. however, Guskov does then power his way back to his feet.
Oezdemir kicks to the leg. He misses on a front kick upstairs. Another low kick connects though. Winging punches from Guskov miss. Oezdemir catches him with a clean punch and Guskov backs off, looking uncomfortable now.
Oezdemir smells blood and presses forward confidently with more offense, landing a left hook and another punch behind it that drops Guskov.
Oezdemir follows him to the mat and is able to take his back and then sink in a rear-naked choke, forcing the tap-out from the late replacement newcomer at 3.46mins of the opening round.
