Bogdan Guskov showed off his punching power tonight at UFC On ESPN 55 as he floored Ryan Spann in the second round and then TKO’d him with follow-up ground-and-pound.

Round One:

Almost a minute gone before Spann lands a low kick and Guskov responds with a punch. Spann into a takedown attempt, but unable to get Guskov down against the cage. Knee from Spann grazes the cup of Guskov and so he gets some time to recover.

When they restart the ref decides it should be from the same position with Spann working in the clinch. Unfortunately he soon after throws another knee that lands to the groin, and harder this time, forcing another stoppage.

They finally get back to it, now in the center of the Octagon. Right hand lands for Spann. He misses a front kick upstairs. Guskov with a low kick.

Guskov tries to flurry, but Spann steps in to get underhooks and lands a takedown. Spann in Guskov’s guard. Guskov tries to get a triangle attempt off his back, but Spann steers clear and goes to half-guard.

Now Is working towards mount. Guskov trying to scramble and Spann almost loses position, but then does get onto Guskov’s back.

Spann working for a rear-naked choke attempt here as Guskov is on his knees turtled up. Spann gives up on that attempt, but then goes for it again. He’s cranking and Guskov is starting to wilt a bit. He survives that though and prevents being completely flattened out. Guskov gets to a seated position as the round ends.

Round Two:

Calf kick for Spann. Guskov with short hooks in close. Back in the cener of the Octagon Spann misses a hook.

Right hand for Guskov. Grazing right hook from Spann. Spann swinging a bit wild and gets caught by a punch from Gusov that might have rocked Spann a little. Guskov applies more pressure, but Spann regains his bearings quickly.

Spann lands a nice punch. Straight right connects for him, but then gets a bit wild again and misses.

Punch for Guskov. Uppercut for Guskov and Spann is on wobbly legs and then goes to the mat under fire.

Guskov starts unloading heavy punches on the mat and Spann looks out of it, but eats about a dozen blows before the ref steps in to wave off the fight. Big TKO win for Guskov at 3.16mins of the second round.
