This Saturday night (November 15, 2014) No. 4-ranked UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt will take on No. 1 Fabricio Werdum for the interim title in the main event of the UFC 180 pay-per-view (PPV) from Mexico City, Mexico.
It’s a golden opportunity for the power-slugging Hunt, as a window opened for him to make a quick turnaround for his long-awaited UFC title shot when champion Cain Velasquez was forced to withdrew with a torn meniscus and sprained MCL suffered in training.
Hunt understandably agreed to make the trip to take on the talented Werdum, who has won four straight UFC bouts, his most recent a dominant five-round decision over Travis Browne in the main event of UFC on FOX 11 in April.
“The Super Samoan” undoubtedly has his hands full with Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Werdum, whose striking has begun to catch up to his all-world ground game.
Of course Hunt may be the most powerful puncher in the world right now, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t several factors working against him in Mexico.
