UFC 45 – Evan Tanner vs. Phil Baroni – Referee Larry Landless
The performance we saw in this fight from Landless was one that even Mazzagatti would question.
Baroni had the edge in this encounter and had Tanner cut. Landless stepped in and brought the fight doctor into the cage to check on Tanner. When the doctor said Tanner could continue, he got on top and starting raining down blows on Baroni.
After asking Baroni if he was alright, ‘The New York Badass’ responded that he was, and for some reason unbeknownst to anyone watching, Landless declared it a verbal submission and ended the fight. Needless to say Baroni was not best pleased and tried to punch the referee!
