Abdul Razak Alhassan’s fight with Cody Brundage lasted less than a minute tonight at UFC On ESPN 59 before being declared a no-contest.

Round One:

Overhand from Brundage straight into a takedown attempt. Before he can secure it Alhassan blasts him with elbows and Brundage seems to wilt.

The fight continues on though as Brundage holds on and tries to survive the onslaught from Alhassan.

Alhassan dropping down a series of elbows but some of them seem to be landing to the back of the head and the ref steps in and calls for a time out.

Alhassan gets warned about the elbows as Brundage gets time to recover. Brundage seems pretty dazed though and he now has a decision to make – fight on or say he can’t continue and potentially go to a DQ or no-contest ruling.

Brundage has 90 seconds left to decide as he sits with his back up against the cage while talking to officials. He finally comes to a decision and says he can’t continue.

As such the official ruling is that the fight is declared a no-contest due to accidental illegal elbows at 37 seconds of the opening round.
