Main Card:
Frank Mir defeats Todd Duffee by KO at 1.13mins of Rd1
Tony Ferguson defeats Josh Thomson by unanimous decision (30-27 x2, 30-26)
Holly Holm defeats Marion Reneau by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 29-28)
Manny Gamburyan defeats Scott Jorgensen by unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
Kevin Lee defeats James Moontasri by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2.56mins of Rd1
Both men fired off kicks in the opening stages, but then Lee took Moontasri to the mat, got to his back and after a bit of work he managed to get under his opponent’s chin with the rear-naked choke and force the tap-out. Lee has now gone four fights undefeated in the UFC in the space of a year.
Alan Jouban defeats Matt Dwyer by unanimous decision (29-27 x3)
A fun fight here as expected. Jouban had a little difficulty getting in on his taller, longer opponent in the early stages of the fight, but towards the end of the opening round he started to found his mark and hurt Dwyer who momentarily went to the canvas. Jouban got over excited trying to finish him and landed an illegal knee to the face which resulted in the ref deducting a point from him. There was plenty of action in the second round from both men, but again Jouban started to get the better of it and dropped Dwyer with a head kick. Dwyer got back up and kept swinging, but he was really starting to tire now and was doing a poor job of disguising it, putting his hands on his hips at times. Then in the final seconds of the round Jouban started to hurt him again with strikes up against the cage, then landed a perfect cartwheel kick that landed to his opponents head, but the bell saved Dwyer who looked to be dazed and had to be helped back to his corner. To his credit Dwyer not only answered the bell for the third, but remained active from range, keeping Jouban at bay for a good portion of the round. Perhaps Jouban was saving his energy though as he burst into life in the final couple of minutes, landing a takedown and even tried another cartwheel kick which didn’t quite work out and saw him end the round on his back.
