Cynthia Calvillo vs. Loopy Godinez Booked For UFC 287

Cynthia Calvillo’s next fight will see her take on Loop Godinez at UFC 287 on April 8th at a destination still to be confirmed at this stage.

Earlier in her UFC run the 35-year-old Calvillo was tipped as a potential star, but though she made a good start she’s since found the going tougher, losing her last four fights in a row against Kaitlyn Chookagian, Jessica Andrade, Andrea Lee and most recently Nina Nunes.

It should be noted that all those fights took place at flyweight, while at strawweight she went 5-1-1, and she’s dropping back to that division for this upcoming fight. While that makes a lot of sense given her record, the reason she moved up in the first place was due to having repeated issues making weight at 115lbs, so it remains to be seen if that’s a problem that she’s since been able to resolve.

As for Godinez, the 29-year-old is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Angela Hill back in August of last year.

However, Godinez had beaten Loma Lookboonmee and Ariane Carnelossi prior to that, leaving her with a 3-3 record in the UFC to date.

Calvillo vs. Godinez joins a UFC 287 event that is still in it’s formative stages, with the only other fight currently booked for it being Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez.
